Holy Union / Holy Matrimony
To have a Holy Union or Holy Matrimony performed by Gentle Spirit Christian Church requires that the couple have lived together a minimum of six months or have dated in a monogamous relationship for at least one year. Within six months of the completion of pre-marital counseling, and at the discretion of the pastor, the Holy Union/Holy Matrimony may take place. Contact the church office if you would like to set up an appointment to begin pre-marital counseling.

Addiction Recovery
Among other self-improvement issues we advocate for in the gay and lesbian community is an awareness of the persuasiveness of alcohol and drugs. We believe it is especially important that as we grow as spiritual beings we be aware of what we are doing to our bodies and minds with alcohol and recreational drugs.

We encourage you to do the same, and offer a Personal Inventory of Chemical Dependency on the Addiction & Recovery page of this website to help you examine how alcohol and/or drugs may be affecting you.

The Facts of Life
Because American culture — and the gay and lesbian community in particular — is so youth-oriented, we often forget that we will all die someday. Even though our community has become more aware of death thanks to the presence of AIDS and breast cancer among us, we rarely plan for the inevitable.

As Christians we obviously believe in life after death. We also believe it is only Christian to make life after your death easier on those who are still living. It is a kindness to those you leave behind to finalize the details of your will, and leave specific instructions for how you want your funeral and burial taken care of.

Although we can’t help with the will, we have included a form for your convenience that we call It’s Your Funeral with important information your family will need after your death. After all, it’s the right thing to do.

You may also want to consider executing an Advance Directive for Health Care, which allows you to spell out in writing what you would like to happen in the event that you are incapacitated when decisions need to be made about your medical care.

An independent, affirming and progressive church serving metro Atlanta. We are open, positive and inclusive.
