Homeless Ministry for May 19, 2019 (Fifth Sunday of Easter)
Gentle Spirit Church
Rev. Paul M. Turner, Senior Pastor
Today’s service (Fifth Sunday of Easter) was our periodic Gentle Spirit Christian Church homeless ministry work. GSCC and Decatur Rotary Club volunteers packaged hygiene kits at our Candler Park pavilion. Next, we distributed over 450 kits to the homeless downtown in various common areas. The smiles on the faces of each homeless loving soul as we handed kits to them were genuine, gracious, and humbling.
Thank you to all who donated product to help us build and deliver these kits. God bless you all! A special thank you to First Christian Church of Decatur for your endless, loving support. Also, a big shout out to the folks from Decatur Rotary whose commitment and participation in this ministry is so outstanding! God’s blessings upon all of them!
We do this ministry three or four times a year. We still need more product for hygiene kits. We want to give out more kits as homeless numbers grow!!! We especially need dark socks and trial-size deodorant. These are the most-requested items the homeless ask from us. If you want to donate product or money towards this ministry, go to https://gentlespirit.org/about-us/atlanta-homeless-ministry/
Micah 6:8 The Message (MSG)
But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.
