Meditation
When I call, give me answers. God, take my side!
Once, in a tight place, you gave me room;
Now I’m in trouble again: grace me! hear me!
You rabble—how long do I put up with your scorn?
How long will you lust after lies?
How long will you live crazed by illusion?
Look at this: look
Who got picked by God!
God listens the split second I call to God.
Complain if you must, but don’t lash out.
Keep your mouth shut, and let your heart do the talking.
Build your case before God and wait for God’s verdict.
Why is everyone hungry for more? “More, more,” they say.
“More, more.”
I have God’s more-than-enough,
More joy in one ordinary day.
Than they get in all their shopping sprees.
At day’s end I’m ready for sound sleep.
For you, God, have put my life back together.
Psalm 4 (The Message)
Breath Prayer
The wise counsel God gives me when I’m awake
is confirmed by my sleeping heart.
Psalm 16 (The Message)
Thoughts for personal prayers
- Thanksgiving for the ways God has touched our lives recently.
- Health and safety of others and ourselves (add specifics).
- Individual needs and questions (the whys of life)
Have we listened after we have prayed?
Remember, oftentimes the wait after our prayer is a time we are given to listen and is often difficult. See our breath prayer above from Psalm 16.
Journaling prompt
Are you at a place where you can echo our Psalm saying, “I have God’s more-than-enough, More joy in one ordinary day.”
Please let me know if you would like a Journal. We have quite a few that have been donated.
As always, I am happy to talk with you by phone or in person.
